A young painter near the end of his education enters a drug-induced psychosis on 23 November 2006, precipitating both a revelation of a secret reality and his plunge from a brownstone balcony. A young photographer finds an unexpected subject in the disastrous collapse of a highway bridge at rush hour on 5 August 2007. One finds the inspiration for a work that may become his masterpiece while the other launches her professional career. Together they navigate the changes provoked in their lives and negotiate the potential consequences to entwine their works and their futures despite what dangers may lurk in each.
